Where the river meets the Sea
(Poem read over intro)
Rise up, arise ye mighty and behold
The archangel is riding on the wind
Singing with the angels and saints upon the moor
Of ancients, of ancestors that rest below the marsh.
Where the river meets the sea
There stand I.
From o’er Stert flats the sea breeze rides
Across Huntspill levels along the ancient Brue
And as it blows it catches ten thousand voices
Of ancients, of ancestors lost upon the marsh.
Where the river meets the sea
There stand I.
For so comes the flowing air to lick the foot of the tor
To bless this earth with the salt of the sea
Carrying the voices ten thousand strong
Of ancients, of ancestors who sleep within the marsh.
Where the river meets the sea
There stand I.
Betwixt Mendip and Polden it flows upon the waters
Still as the Moon, deep as the blood in our veins
Gently caressing the apples of the vale
It shall become our prayer; for
Where the river meets the sea
The knife shall sear the cord
Of flesh and blood and bone.
(Refrain Sung)
Where the river meets the sea,
Where the river meets the sea,
Where the river meets the sea,
There I stand.
There's a child in your arms,
Hey You! There's a Child in your arms
For the moon is in the sky
Yes the moon is in the sky
And the stars begin to shine,
Yes the stars begin to shine.
And the candles burn tonight
Where the river meets the sea, where the river meets the sea, Where the river meets the sea,
There I stand.
